THINGS TO DO IN ASAKUSA AREA

To start your journey in ASAKUSA, the first thing to do is to visit "Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center" located nearby Kaminarimon Gate. Get useful information and Asakusa area map before your journey.

EBISUYA Rickshaw 

Experience the traditional Japanese rickshaw   "人力車" with EBISUYA. Unlike with other transportations, with a rickshaw you can see all of the great secret destinations and explore like a local. Don't miss the exciting adventure where you can learn about amazing culture and history of the town.

Kaminarimon Gate

Kaminarimon is the large entrance gate that leads to the Sensoji Temple. The gate is decorated with a massive paper lantern called "CHOCHIN" painted as "雷門" in vivid red-and-black tones. Four statues are housed in the gate; the Fujin and Raijin in front of the gate, the Tenryu and Kinryu on the reverse side.

Nakamise Shopping Street

Nakamise is a shopping street of approx. 250m, leads from the outer gate "Kaminarimon" to the temple's second gate "Hozomon". Alongside typical Japanese souvenirs such as Yukata, Geta sandals, Sensu folding fans, Maneki-Neko lucky charms, and various traditional local snacks from the Asakusa area are sold.

Sensoji Temple

Sensoji is the oldest temple in Tokyo. Various seasonal events are held throughout the year. Best known is the "Sanja Matsuri", the annual festival held in May. The "Hozuki Market" in July, the "Asakusa Samba Carnival" in August, the "Hagoita Market" in December are also famous events held in the area.

How to play "OMIKUJI (fortune card)"

①　Find the Omikuji "みくじ" booth
standing along the central walkway.

②　Omikuji is 100yen/ play.
Insert the coin into the slot.

③　Shake the Omikuji box and pick
a stick from the tiny hole on top
of the Omikuji box.
Check the number written on the stick.

④　Find the drawer with the same
character (number) on the stick
you have picked. 
Open the drawer and take one.

⑤　Omikuji card is written in ancient
Japanese writings.

⑥　If you pick a card written as
"凶 (bad luck)", make a knot and tie it
on the rack as shown on the left.

Tokyo Skytree 

With a height of 634 meters, Tokyo Skytree is the tallest TV broadcasting tower in Japan. Enjoy the stunning views from the two enclosed observation decks located at heights of 350 and 450 meters.
Tembo Gallery, at 450 meters high, is "the world's highest skywalk" consists of a sloping spiral ramp that gains height as it circles the tower.

Fast Skytree Ticket, sold at the Fast Skytree Ticket Counter on the 4th floor (inside the West Entrance) , is an admission ticket which grants you smooth entrance without having to wait in long line. Fast Skytree Tickets are available to foreign visitors who are able to present their passport, or other IDs.
